When it comes to creating a lean physique there are a whole range of exercises and classes one can take. From boxing and CrossFit to Pilates and aerobics, the choices are endless. However, a more simple approach to toning your body may be sitting in your garage. That’s right, it’s time to release your inner 12-year-old and go back to basics – it’s time to skip your way to a more toned and fit you. Not convinced? The below reasons may do the trick:

- Weight loss and calorie burning requires our heart rate to continuously increase and decrease, making skipping an effective way to reach those weight loss goals

- Skipping improves the cardiovascular system, in turn improving endurance and fitness levels

- Is a fun and easy way to relieve stress and tension

- Skipping improves mobility and helps build joint strength, in turn helping prevent injury at the gym and during those morning runs

- Skipping produces less impact on the joints in the legs than other cardio based exercises such as running and bike riding

- Builds strong calves and toned legs

-Skipping helps strengthen coordination and balance

Next time you need a break from the couch why not try 4 sets of the following:

Single skips: 60

Alternative skipping: 60

One leg hop: 15
